This is Day 201 of the Ohio Shutdown and Day 137 of the Liberal Lollapalooza.
My family and I are ok. Busy day. Before I talk about anything else here, I just want to say that I love this time of year — fall is my favorite season. Second Chance Ranch is surrounded by mature trees, mostly maples and oaks, and this weekend they’re starting to show their colors. I’ll gladly up my yard-work game in return for beauty like this.
As advertised, today I tackled winterizing the Bumper Bunker. I approached it deliberately, determined to take it one step at a time and not jump ahead and risk missing something.
Fortune smiled on me early — there was, in fact, an access panel for the water heater under the mattress, making it relatively easy to reach the bypass valves.Blowing out the lines reminded me of doing line drills when I played high-school basketball. A dozen times I bounced back and forth between the air compressor and the water fixtures inside the trailer. Once the plumbing was clear, I added pink antifreeze to all the drains and poured a quart or so over the toilet valve.
So the main part of winterizing is done. Over the next week we’ll pull the food out and shut down the fridge, stuff Bounce dryer sheets in all the nooks and crannies to keep critters out, then throw the cover on and tuck it in.
When spring arrives, all we’ll need to do is yank the cover, add water, stock food and roll.
While I was knee-deep in the trailer this morning, a friend sent me a photo — the pro-Trump display on private property at the edge of our village was vandalized once again. This time they didn’t simply destroy political signs. They slashed an American flag.
To say we were furious would be an understatement.
I made a point to drive by the site on my way to meet Deb at her father’s house late this afternoon, and the flag already had been replaced. That was good to see.
But oh, it gets better.
When we returned home this evening, after dark, we saw that the Trump signs were back up, too — including one mounted to an industrial lift truck, 20 feet in the air.
Game on, bitches.
Let’s get real here — the climate that makes this vandalism possible was created by Democrats. It’s perpetuated by Democrats, and it’s Democrats who continue to encourage it.
Anyone who votes for Democrats on November 3rd, especially the Daffy/HeelsUp ticket, puts a stamp of approval on violence and destruction.
What’s more, as Deb and I were discussing this evening, explicitly tolerating this despicable conduct for shallow political reasons dishonors every American who’s ever put on a uniform and defended this country.
Our fathers served during World War II and Korea. Many of you can say the same, or you’ve served in the military yourself. And I’m here to say that anyone who doesn’t feel rage at the sight of a slashed American flag, because it flies next to a Trump sign, isn’t worth a damn.
I don’t want to hear your lame-ass excuses. Piss off. You’re either with us — Americans, that is — or you’re with the terrorists. Simple as that.
Take care of yourselves. Stay free.
