Day 230

This is Day 230 of the Ohio Shutdown and Day 166 of National Convulsions.

My family and I are fine.

I haven’t said much of anything this week about the “pandemic.” A contentious presidential election elbowed the subject out of my posts, I guess, but not entirely off my radar. Here in Ohio, the governor still held his pointless press conferences and used the post-election dustup to divert attention away from two WuFlu-related appointments.

He named yet another new Minister of Health. At least this one, sliding over from the same spot at workers comp, didn’t resign an hour after the announcement. She’s not a doctor, though — she’s a lawyer, a bureaucrat and a card-carrying DeWine toady.

At the same time, he tapped an actual doctor, a hospital exec, to be Ohio’s “chief medical officer” — a High Priest, if you will, since the new Minister isn’t formally schooled in all that medical stuff.

And then there was DeWine’s interview with National Taxpayer-Funded Radio, during which he took a swipe at Trump: “I certainly wish the president had a more happy relationship with masks.”

Let that sink in for a moment. He doesn’t want me merely to wear a mask — he wants me to have a relationship with it. And he wants me to be happy about his infringement on my personal Liberty.

He continued: “We know so much more today than we knew in March. We now know that these masks really work.”

No, we don’t. The basis for that statement is a State narrative, not data. The narrative is the only thing that’s advanced over the last eight months.

So yeah, Ohio is still a shitshow. With this governor, how could it be anything else?

Daffy McHairsniffer and Chuckles the Hooker spoke to the nation last night. I didn’t watch. I didn’t listen. What these two have to say is nothing I’m interested in hearing — over the last year-plus, they’ve shown me exactly who they are.

I caught up this morning.

“A clear victory,” Daffy slurred. “A convincing victory.”

Bullshit.

“Let’s give each other a chance.”

Hell, no. You had your chance — five damned decades of chances, and we know what you want a chance to do now.

“We are not enemies. We are Americans.”

You sure do have a funny way of showing that. Is this the same candidate, the same party, the same 73 million voters who defamed our president the last four years? The same “folks” who denigrated, disrespected and attacked true Americans?

Preceding Daffy on the stage, of course, was HeelsUp Harris — the first woman, the first “black,” the first child of an Indian mother and (often overlooked) the first prostitute to be the presumptive vice president-elect. She introduced Daffy as “a president for all Americans.”

At this point I feel compelled to quote Daffy himself, back in March wagging his finger at a blue-collar worker who had the audacity to disagree: “You’re full of shit! I’m not working for you!”

If Trump’s legal challenges fail — I just heard Rudy claim that there will be ten in all — and these two Democrats are to be inaugurated January 20th, only one hope remains for our republic.

On Tuesday, January 5th, Georgia will hold runoff elections for its two seats in the U.S. Senate. The outcomes will determine which party holds the majority in that chamber.

If the Democrat candidates win both races, then the sitting vice president — that’d be the presumptive Chuckles, or her designee when she succeeds the presumptive Daffy — would give Democrats control.

C’mon, Georgia….

In quiet moments this week, once again my thoughts have drifted back to those weekends when Deb, our dogs and I escaped in the Bumper Bunker. Thus the header photo, this one from three glorious summer days in east-central Ohio.

We thoroughly enjoy campground life, whether it’s a private commercial deal or a state park like this one. We know it’s not for everyone — some people don’t like camping at all, even “glamping,” while others prefer more primitive and less crowded tenting deep in the woods.

Being side-by-side with other escapees doesn’t bother us at all. In fact, we find the camaraderie with other campers satisfying. It’s quite the community.

We look forward to more of those days, perhaps soon.

Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
