It’s Day 271 of 15 Days to Flatten the Curve and Day 31 of Ohio’s 21-day WuFlu Curfew.
Deb and I are fine. We’re on the road for the day.
Other than placing an evergreen spray on our front door, we decided not to decorate for the holidays this year — no tree, no garland, no lights and no lifetime of trinkets strewn about the house. With the death of Deb’s father in August, scarcely 18 months after she lost her mother, the reservoir of good cheer just isn’t there.
We do, however, have other matters drawing our attention, so we’re good.
That’s not to say we’re not marking the holidays at all. We’ve shifted our family Christmas observance six days up and a hundred miles out. Today we’ll gather three households, exchange humble gifts and eat food we prepare ourselves.
Screw the State nannies — we’ll do as we please.
In this hellish year, it’s the most American thing we can do.
Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay free.
