Sun

It’s Day 424 of 15 Days to Flatten the Curve. Deb and I are fine.

There’s no way to exaggerate how great it was to see the sun today. We soaked up as much of it as we could while sorting through and sprucing up some gear that suffered a bit from day upon day of rain. A breezy afternoon with temps in the low 80s made that easy.

As the day wound down, I reached into Ernie’s basement and brought out an old friend — a 40-year-old Coleman propane stove that’s served me well over the years and deserved to accompany us on this expedition. On its grate I sat a Lodge cast-iron grill/griddle that we picked up in Tennessee in March.

The stove-and-grill combo helped us prepare my favorite meal: grass-fed Angus burgers, with Swiss cheese and red onion, along with ears of fresh sweet corn. Tonight’s repast was as perfect as it could be.

It was more than dinner — it celebrated a day in the sun, just one of many more to come.

Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
