Extra-ordinary

It’s Day 431 of 15 Days to Flatten the Curve. Deb and I are ok.

We’d planned to take a day trip over to Eureka Springs today, but it wasn’t meant to be. Getting the fridge repaired is our top priority, so we stuck close to Ernie in case that happened today. It didn’t — we heard from our mobile RV tech this afternoon, saying that he’ll be out early Monday morning to do the job.

Fine with us. We definitely can manage ’til then.

Today we worked in the bus a little, kicked back a little and smiled a lot. We ran down the road to a big-box home-improvement retailer to pick up a few supplies, including a new toilet seat and parts to repair a broken guide roller on the bedroom closet door.

The experience at that store struck Deb and me the same way — damn, these people are polite. Every orange-aproned employee we saw greeted us with a smile. They were attentive and helpful. It’s been this way everywhere we’ve been since coming to The Ozarks.

Back at Ernie, I broke out our collapsible wagon — which I’ll write about in more detail here at some point — and walked up to the campground store for firewood and a couple of pops. Although we did build our own campfire tonight, we ended up at the site next door, chatting late into the evening and warming by the neighbors’ fire.

It’s been chilly all day here. We’re expecting another overnight low in the mid-40s.

Tomorrow we have company coming. Monday the fridge will be fixed. And Tuesday morning, after a great extended stay, we’ll be on the road again.

Even on what might seem like an unremarkable day, we’re loving this new American Life of ours.

Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
