Sunday drive

Deb and I made it to The Mountain this morning before the rain started. We’d detoured along the way for snack food and materials we’ll use to post our house number at the road. One of our soon-to-be-neighbors works at the grocery, and while shopping there we chatted about her puppy’s encounter yesterday with a copperhead.

A sudden shower (and a pretty heavy one) began not long after we’d ducked inside Deb’s cousin’s garage, and it lasted a good while. We pulled out our folding chairs and, as we often do, sat around and talked about everything under the sun.

A little later the neighbor came by with her dogs, including Gracie the snake-bit puppy (who’s doing just fine). Eventually Deb and I eased the truck down The Mountain and drove back to the campground.

The sun was out by then. And while I’d have a hard time explaining to you why this was a great day, it was a great day.

Tomorrow we have business to do close to the bus. It’s looking like we’ll be on The Mountain again Tuesday.

Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
