I don’t like clichés. I wince at jargon and I recoil from fads. Not that I’m immune — Ubi Libertas Blog, at times, reflects all three, because sometimes a common phrase or characterization just works. Sometimes it’s right.
Pop culture and entertainment media tend to feed the beast — Seinfeld, Christmas Vacation, Office Space and so on. A scene from The Matrix comes to mind, too, Morpheus speaking to Neo:

“The Matrix is everywhere, it is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window, or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work, or when go to church or when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. … that you are a slave. Like everyone else, you were born into bondage, born inside a prison that you cannot smell, taste, or touch.
“A prison for your mind.
“Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself. This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back.
“You take the blue pill and the story ends. You wake in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill and you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.
“Remember — all I am offering is the truth, nothing more.”
Neo took the red pill, of course.
That, as I’m sure you know, is what spawned The Red Pill Metaphor. It’s everywhere, used and misused and over-used.
Thing is, and applied properly, it just works. It’s right.
And maybe that’s why you’re here.
It’s your choice — live in the comfortable illusion of The Holy Narrative or confront disquieting truths. On one side is masks, distancing,, compulsory jabs and “we’re all in this together”; the flag of Ukraine on your profile picture, “hate speech” and “the right to feel safe”; diversity, equity and inclusion; moderation, compromise and “reaching across the aisle.”
On the other side is Liberty.
Go ahead and take the blue pill if you want, and believe whatever you want to believe. Just understand that you don’t belong here. Find something else to read.
This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back.
“The entire Fox Corp digital streaming service, Fox Nation, was anchored around the ‘Tucker Carlson Today‘ [and ‘Tucker Carlson Originals‘] digital streaming service. Fox News has just torpedoed their anchor, shot their lead dog, destroyed the digital brand. That gives you some scale and scope to how the elements viewed the threat of influence that Tucker Carlson had become.”
“Tucker Carlson was no longer selling the illusions. There are trillions at stake. He was removed.”
from “Thoughts on Tucker Carlson’s Firing” on The Last Refuge (aka The Conservative Treehouse), the most correct commentary I’ve seen on the subject. Recommended reading.
The Purge is on. Pick your favorite buzzword — boycotting, cancel culture, institutional ghosting or content moderation — but whatever you call it, there’s no denying that progressives are waging war on voices of Liberty.
“Deplatforming works,” smirked vacuous twatwaffle Sandy Cortez this week.
She’s right. And she’s winning. The Left is winning because most people are weak, soft, dependent and, most obvious of all, stupid.
They’re winning the culture and they’re winning the marketplace. They dominate elected government at the federal level and they own the Permanent State. Like it or not, the Left calls the national tune.
The Patriot Purge is well underway. The unmaking of America continues. Collapse is near — and don’t bother badgering progressives about it, because that’s the plan. It’s been their goal all along. That “pandemic” they manufactured was only a dress rehearsal.
Where America still lives, its heart beats in individuals and communities, or what Sarah Palin once called “the wonderful little pockets of… the real America.” That’s where our focus must be, practically and to remind ourselves that our country can be restored. Tucker Carlson, in his first public statement after his firing, hinted at much the same thing:
“When honest people say what’s true, calmly and without embarrassment, they become powerful. At the same time, the liars who’ve been trying to silence them shrink and they become weaker. That’s the iron law of the universe. True things prevail.
“Where can you still find Americans saying true things? There aren’t many places left, but there are some, and that’s enough.
“As long as you can hear the words, there is hope.”
So don’t break faith, Patriots, but don’t harbor any illusions, either — as bad as things seem now, they’re about to get worse. Then expect them to go straight to hell-awful. And that’s if the current regime doesn’t drag us into World War III.
We ain’t seen nothin’ yet. The collapse is coming. Put your affairs in order.

Pretty gloomy shit, huh? Aside from being disturbingly true, you could blame the weather ’round here — gray and rainy and unseasonably cool, it’s the sort of day made for pulling the covers back up and waiting for the sun to reappear.
We didn’t do that.
North to Lilliehobbs Mercantile for sandwiches and some of their incomparable baked goods. Kibble for the puppy at Tractor Supply. Gas at Murphy (ten-cent discount) and provisions at Walmart (curbside pickup). In the middle of those errands we killed time at a local indoor flea market — row upon cluttered row of antiques, oddities and junk. No purchases, just ideas and eye candy.

Maybe it doesn’t sound like much, but it sure beat just sittin’ around on a gloomy day.
Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
