When we’ve finished decorating for Christmas, it’s a safe bet that our Home on The Mountain won’t be visible from space. Clark Griswold needn’t fear competition from us. Our style is understated, and besides, the current state of our homestead wouldn’t lend itself well to any sort of grand display.
We did a little bit today. Sunday, I think, we’ll put up the small tree we trimmed in the motorhome a couple of years ago.

That tree will stand in the cabin, not in the fifth-wheel. Feels right.
Today was simple, but also complicated. As Deb has driven Mercy back and forth to Mountain Home this week, she’s reported what may be the notorious Wrangler “death wobble.” She drove it down to her cousin’s garage this morning.
He took a long look at the front end — steering, suspension, brakes, etc. — but found nothing that conclusively could be linked to the problem. He did tweak the position of the stabilizer, which clearly had been making hard contact with other steering components.
We took the Jeep for a test drive to Flippin for fuel and a wash. The wobble remained.
At that point, Deb waved the white flag. We dropped off Mercy at Schroder Tire late this afternoon for their mechanics to evaluate. I’m curious to see what they find.

So a problem needs fixing. It’ll cost money we’d rather spend on building out the homestead. But the Wrangler is an essential tool, which makes this a necessary expenditure.
The best thing about our Thursday was spending time with Deb’s cousin in his garage. Since moving to The Mountain permanently in June, we don’t get to do that anymore. I think we’ve all missed it.
It was a good day, of course. There are no bad days on The Mountain.

Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
