Tick-tock (not Tik-Tok)

3:53am: Miss Smudge was her usual early-rising self this morning. Though its hard to make out in this trailcam image, I’m sporting the stylish (camo and rabbit fur) trapper hat Deb got me for Christmas. Toasty-warm.

9:01am: Before the rising sun reaches us each day, it’s already illuminated the north face of Hall Mountain and the valley below. The contrast struck me this morning, and I snapped a few photos.

10:55am: We made a quick trip to the animal hospital in Gassville to pick up a refill of Scout’s meds.

11:12am: Letty’s Mexican Restaurant in Gassville is always packed when we drive by, and at all times of day. Now we know why — we had our first meal there today (huevos rancheros for me, enchiladas for Deb), and we’ve found another favorite. Outstanding grub.

1:00pm to 4:00pm: We did curbside pickup at the Flippin Walmart and put gas in the truck at Murphy USA, then drove Home and took naps (not pictured).

4:11pm: Reviewing some of the images we’ve captured of the territory to the west of us, we noticed a few features we couldn’t quite identify (three miles or more away). Today we set up a spotting scope above the cabin and took a closer look — nothing of concern, and no, that’s not spying. It’s simply good to know one’s surroundings. Now we do. It’s a prepper thing.

4:36pm: As sunset approached, Deb predicted that we’d have a spectacular show. I wasn’t so sure about that.

4:50pm to 5:17pm: Deb was right. Our western horizon went from grays and blues to gold and violet, and once the sun reached the ridge, it set the sky on fire.

Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
