The Ranger began marking its territory several weeks ago. I’d been keeping tabs on the drip with a sheet of cardboard on the floor of the shed, and naturally I checked the oil level more often than I usually do. Today I finally got ’round to lifting the buggy and pinpointing the source of the leak.
As I suspected, it was coming from around the drain plug, which I’d buggered while changing the oil last November. I put a wrench on it and snugged it up, knowing that I’ll replace it (and the crush washer) next oil change.
Deb spent this morning carefully applying tinted film to the cabin’s windows The objective wasn’t privacy (which is laughable up here) so much as mitigating the greenhouse effect on these hot summer days.
It looks great. Better than that, it seems to make a difference.
I successfully sanitized the IBC today — a three-hour process that involved introducing about 30 gallons of a concentrated bleach-and-water solution to the tank, then rolling the tote around and letting it sit on each side for a half-hour.
With the interior surfaces treated, I opened the drain valve and dumped the contents. Next we gave it another thorough rinsing. Deb took her first turn with the pressure washer.
Our replacement caps arrived today, too. The tank now sports a spiffy orange fill cap with a vent.
Unfortunately, the new drain cap was the wrong size and the wrong thread. The correct one should be here Tuesday afternoon.
Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
