The Mountain slept under a blanket of drizzle all night, and that mist became showers this morning. It’s all been so light that it hasn’t registered on radar, but there’s no denying it’s wet up here.

Maybe it’s the age, but I’ve come to love these rainy, foggy, gray days on The Mountain. I feel so much more closed-off from whatever’s beyond. The deep, dense woods tighten their embrace.
When it’s this gloomy up here, it feels like a secret hideout.

That suits me today. Deb felt up to going in to work. I’m the one who’s under the (soggy) weather.
Harbor Freight just put The World’s Cheapest Angle Grinder on sale again, and I just couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t share the coupon with you.
It’s a decent deal at the regular price of $14.99. Now five bucks off that, it’s a bona fide steal.
Fair warning: This is a light-duty tool. It’s more than adequate for occasional use. If you demand more than that, buy a better angle grinder.
Still, at ten bucks it’s damned near disposable. Price good through September 29th.
You could say that I pride myself in publishing original material on Ubi Libertas Blog, both words and images. When I bring in content from elsewhere, I give credit where it’s due, though I do operate within legal precedents that establish “fair use” of copyrighted material.
This is a paragraph from yesterday’s post:
“Violence isn’t stopped by running away from it. Laws don’t prevent it. Violent evil can be suppressed only by violent good, asserted with superior force.”
Those are my words. They might’ve reminded a few of you, however, of a quotation or two you’ve heard somewhere else. Like this:
“An unarmed man can only flee from evil, and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it.”
Or maybe this:
“One bleeding-heart type asked me in a recent interview if I did not agree that ‘violence begets violence.’ I told him that it is my earnest endeavor to see that it does. I would like very much to ensure — and in some cases I have — that any man who offers violence to his fellow citizen begets a whole lot more in return than he can enjoy.”
Those words belong to the late Lt. Col. John Dean “Jeff” Cooper, USMC, widely recognized as the father of American pistolcraft. I’m quite familiar with Jeff Cooper, though I wasn’t purposely channeling him yesterday.
You may consider my humble expression to be an unintended echo, not a conscious attempt to paraphrase Lt. Col. Cooper.
In the immediate aftermath of the (presumed) second assassination attempt on Trump early yesterday afternoon, a Facebook friend of mine — himself an accomplished writer and producer of pro-Liberty content — offered this chilling perspective:
“You do realize the Democrats will keep chumming the water until they manage to find a monster to kill Trump, right?”
My friend isn’t wrong about that. Unhinged hatred of Trump is widespread, and it’s only a matter of time before we learn of the next attempt to take his life, and the next.
In his favor right now, at least in my opinion, is that campaigning has him operating mostly outside the cordon of State control and direction. Winning the election would put him at far greater risk.
Once he’s inside The Bubble, he’ll be surrounded by The Permanent State — people and institutions he opposes and vows to eliminate, to prosecute, to hold accountable.
They hate Trump. They don’t want him to win. And if he does, they won’t simply tuck tail and leave government service. They’ll stay to take on a new mission — to prevent him from succeeding.
At what cost? How far are they prepared to go?
These are ruthless professionals, not random psychopaths crashing campaign rallies or staking out golf courses. They manipulate for a living. Silencing the inconvenient and disappearing the uncooperative goes with the job.
The Permanent State has neither principle nor conscience. We’ve seen what it’s capable of.
If Trump wins the presidency, he’s in the gravest possible personal danger — and the threat will come from deep within The Bubble.
Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
