Four in the books. Five begins now.

I keep score. It’s been 1,462 days (inclusive) since October 9th, 2020 — exactly four years since I launched Ubi Libertas Blog. What you’re reading here is my 1,397th post. And just in case you’re wondering, yeah, that feels like a lot.

Some of you have been with me the whole time. A handful of you were reading my daily Facebook rambles even before that.

What began mid-WuFlu as commentary on culture and politics has stuck around for four years. I wouldn’t’ve predicted that, but it’s kind of a cool milestone.

I did what I could today, what I felt like doing, what suited me. What occupied my time just happened to be a critical part of our preps — organizing our Home “library” (for lack of a better term).

Deb and I are committed to having all of our important resources in print, physically, everything from instructions and service manuals to reference books and Country compendiums. We maintain a larger library digitally, living both on the cloud and locally on a hard drive, made portable with a cheap tablet computer.

Pulling all that together today was tedious and time-consuming — sorting files, deleting duplicates and tossing outdated stuff. It took the whole day.

I’d rather chop wood.

Here’s the creep of wildfire danger and burn bans over the last week, up to 4pm this afternoon.

Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
