Sooner, not later

“If you’re early, you’re not busy enough.”

I recall the day that a smart man, quite talented at his craft, said that to me. Immediately (and silently), I called bullshit. Here was a guy who kept himself so busy — and managed his time so poorly — that he was notoriously unreliable.

And when he showed up precisely “on-time,” he wasn’t prepared to begin. The result, naturally, was that he made everyone else wait ’til he was “ready.”

That experience, along with many others, illustrates a maxim drilled into my head from an early age:

Early is on-time.
On-time is late.
Late is unacceptable.

So I’ve always worked hard to be ahead of schedule, ahead of circumstances, ahead of the proverbial curve, while remaining present in the moment. To this day, I hate to be late.

We have heavy weather coming to The Mountain tomorrow night into Thursday — strong winds, a slight chance of tornadoes, and maybe a couple of inches of welcome rain. Our homestead’s west and southwest exposures will take the brunt of whatever we get. It’s only common sense, then, to survey our preps and make sure that everything’s in order before the storms arrive.

That easily could’ve waited until tomorrow morning. I did it today.

Relax, I’m not gonna recite a long list of the small stuff I checked. I found enough things that were amiss, however, or that weren’t quite right, that I consider the exercise to have been worth the effort.

Some leftover building materials that had been sitting out in the open — barn tin and rough-sawn red cedar — are now tucked under the cabin ’til the next time I need them. I gathered two full bags of trash and two bags of recyclables and hauled them off to the transfer station.

I passed back through Yellville right about the time that Deb took her mid-day break. We lunched in a local park.

Just another day in this American Life.

[The Secretary of Defense may authorize] “assistance in responding with assets with potential for lethality, or any situation in which it is reasonably foreseeable that providing the requested assistance may involve the use of force that is likely to result in lethal force, including death or serious bodily injury. It also includes all support to civilian law enforcement officials in situations where a confrontation between civilian law enforcement and civilian individuals or groups is reasonably anticipated.”

from DoD Directive 5240.01: “DoD Intelligence and Intelligence-Related Activities and Defense Intelligence Component Assistance to Law Enforcement Agencies and Other Civil Authorities,” issued September 27th, 2024

The stage is set. Conditions are right. No matter which way the presidential election goes one week from today, the Ruling Elite are poised to crack down on their political enemies. We can expect them to follow through on the bogus, maniacal Insurrection Narrative and rain hell-fire on true Americans.

Remember — even if we learn on November 6th that Trump won the election, anti-American forces will remain in power for another 76 days. An incoming administration would have no constitutional authority until January 20th, 2025.

The Permanent State is ready to act, either to quell unrest or to manufacture it. Little over a month ago, SECDEF granted himself the power to order the use of deadly force against American civilians on American soil. (See the excerpt from DoD Directive 5240.01, above.)

Rumors are rampant that so-called “martial law” could be imposed soon after Election Day. Some say that the current regime is prepared to block the inauguration entirely, preventing Trump (if he’s elected) from taking office.

I want to be clear about something here — these aren’t your typical wild conspiracy theories. Much of it, including the scenarios I mentioned in the preceding paragraph, is coming from within the State.

Those 76 days may be the most dangerous and critical in American history.

Now, what can you do?

Understand first that whatever happens, it’ll play out well beyond your reach and influence. You and I can change nothing, effect nothing, do nothing of consequence. That’s just the reality of things.

What we can do is protect ourselves and our families. We can remove ourselves from the scene. For anyone who lives in a city or a large suburb, especially one that’s under Democrat control, or in a jurisdiction where law enforcement hasn’t demonstrated fidelity to the Constitution and individual Liberty, that means only one thing — get the hell out.

You probably can’t leave now, though if you can, you should. Waiting ’til after the rumors come true to bug out will present problems I’m sure I don’t need to describe.

Get to the Country. Find a pocket of like minds. Stay there until the smoke clears — if it ever does.

Worst-case, leaving the city won’t be enough. It’d take a while, but someday the State may come calling on rural America. At that point, you’ll know what to do.

Put your affairs in order.

Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
