Just a quick hit today. Posting from my phone, ’cause it’s easier.
By this morning, we’d gotten at least 7-1/2 inches of rain since midday yesterday. I say “at least” because our rain gauge overflowed.
I drove Deb to work this morning. Along the way we saw major flash flooding, especially in town, part of which was inundated by Crooked Creek and Shawnee Town Branch. Both were out of their banks.
Standing water covered the roads in many places. Unsure if I’d be able to get back to Yellville to fetch Deb at day’s end, given the forecast, we turned around and drove back to The Mountain.
As I write this it’s late afternoon, and we’re looking down the barrel of maybe the most serious threat of tornadoes since we came to Ozarkansas. We’ve decided to abandon the camper for the cabin for the next several hours — certainly not ideal, but with the memory of May 26th’s twisters still fresh in our minds, we know it’s the better bad place to be.
I’ll let you know tomorrow how we fared.
Speaking of tomorrow, if you haven’t voted yet, get your ass to the polls on Election Day.
And if you’re worth a damn, you’ll vote for Trump.
Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
