I could explain my two-day absence from this space, but I don’t believe I will. Suffice it to say that I neither blogged nor logged. All’s well.
To mark the weekend, though, I’ll share an image that Deb captured just after sunset yesterday.

That was the view from our cabin’s front door — Earth’s moon and Venus in a fantasy sky. It really was that beautiful.
By now you’ve noticed how Trump’s cabinet nominees and other political appointees are conducting themselves — “confidence” would be an understatement. They speak and act with certainty that the People voted for disruption and that this president has their back.
Consider, too, that this is a term-limited administration. It’s lame-duck from the start. Time is short.
“I don’t really care, Margaret.”
JD Vance
I sense no desperation, but principled urgency is palpable. That’s reflected in boldness and candor, unapologetic brashness we didn’t see even in Trump’s first term.
It’s wonderful. It’s truly American, for a change. There is, however, a dark side that we shouldn’t ignore.
We know that the Left is (literally) gunning for this president. There will be attempts on his life, whether we learn about them or not. He, the VPOTUS and certain others benefit from a security shield that’s no doubt working overtime these days.
As a result, these men are the hardest of targets. Would-be assassins will look for softer ones, naturally, and that pushes the perimeter of peril beyond what Americans are accustomed to.
Whether it’s pissed-off drug cartels going after the border czar, or the SECDEF being targeted by some deranged tranny (but I repeat myself), threats are real and unprecedented. Every cabinet secretary and every visible, vocal member of the Trump administration is at great risk.
We know that the Left is predisposed to violence. We know that high-profile progressives and captive media will stoke anger until someone snaps.
All that will play out in front of us. As Rush used to say, “Don’t doubt me.”
Today’s visit to the county transfer station set records — number of days since the last trip (32, besting the previous mark of 29) and sheer volume (three bags of trash, two of recyclables).

Yeah, I take note of such things. It’s important to me.
I finished loading the bags into the bed, got behind the wheel, turned the key, and… nothing. We’d had no problems while we were out yesterday, even though the truck had sat for a week beforehand. Then, strangely, the battery went dead overnight.

I jumped it with the NOCO and got rolling. After dropping off our garbage, I stopped by an independent garage in town and made an appointment for next Monday.
We’ll get it sorted out.
In the meantime, we’re having a spectacular spring day in Ozarkansas — on the 3rd of February.

Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
