When all is said and done

By the time most of you read this post (you early risers excepted, and barring delays in the circuit court docket), today’s divorce hearing will be over. What my marital status will be by day’s end — and whether or not I’ll continue to reside on The Mountain — is something I can’t predict (and won’t speculate about).

A number of you have reached out to me over the last 24 hours to express solidarity and support, assuring me of positive thoughts and heartfelt prayers.

“No reply required,” several of you said. “I just wanted you to know.”

I know. I’m grateful.

I also can’t foresee how the other side will present itself. It could be limited to family and counsel, or it could be a veritable entourage. All I know for sure is that I’ll stand alone.

That, in the end, is how each of us will be judged anyway. I’m comfortable with that. I’ve been walking alone for a very long time.

I’m not naive about the process or my prospects, nor do I approach this with any sort of arrogance. I’ll carry into the hearing plain truth and the same humility that guides my steps every day.

Keeping close company with humility is resolve. I know who I am. That’s unshaken and unshakable.

Again, many thanks to all who’ve followed my story (so far) and have stood with me. Stay tuned.

Recent rains put Marion County back in the green — wildfire danger is low again.

Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
