Right now, the best days of my life just happen to coincide with flawless weather. Cool mornings (40s and low 50s) give way to afternoons in the mid-70s to low 80s. The air is dry, the breezes gentle. Absolutely perfect.
Ryan Hall Y’all agrees.

Not everything, however, is ideal. I’ve been sick enough the last two days to sentence myself mostly to the cabin, contending with GI issues (I’ll leave it there) that made it prudent to stay put.
I didn’t even try to “tough it out” and put in some work. Y’all know how unusual that is for me.

Convalescing is boring, of course, especially since I’m predisposed to getting stuff done. There’s an intellectual limit to how much streaming video I can consume. In an effort to busy myself constructively (by some definition), I dug out my stash of paracord.
A number of years ago, I was gifted a SOG FastHawk, a tacticool take on the traditional tomahawk. I’m not much for ‘hawks, personally, preferring hatchets and axes instead, so this FastHawk was stored away and never used.

I got to thinking about it, though, while rummaging through various colors and patterns of paracord and coming upon a hank of Zombie green. Given that the FastHawk has an unmistakably apocalyptic vibe, I decided it deserved a simple wrap in that hue.

Clearly, the two were meant for each other. And if I ever do venture afield with this ‘hawk, the wrap will serve to protect the junction between head and haft in case of an overstrike.
Later, I applied a more reserved paracord pattern to a Swiss Army knife fished from one of my kits.
I’ve written before that the Fieldmaster is my favorite of the Cellidor-scaled models. Over the years I’ve bought three, all of them pre-owned. I subsequently re-handled each of them in one way or another.
The knife I fiddled with yesterday afternoon, originally the familiar red, had been re-scaled in yellow. I gave it a dignified tether, similar to one I made for the Fieldmaster I’d upgraded with orange G10 awhile back.

All of this stuff is mindless and inconsequential, I know that. It’s also the right sort of thing to do on a “sick day.”
Anyway, I’m on the mend. I should be back in the game tomorrow.
