Not long ago, I crowed about eating very well these days, and I definitely am. The challenge, however, is consuming enough calories to replace what I burn.
My budget’s tight, of course, and food ain’t cheap, but I get creative and manage just fine. I pay close attention to protein and fat intake. As a result, my weight has stabilized.
I do put on the ol’ feedbag every few days and really chow down. In my cast-iron skillet this morning, for example, that looked like five slices of bacon…

…a mess of hash browns, to which I added jalapeño and onion…

…and four farm-fresh eggs, scrambled dry.

I made two slices of wheat toast, poured a glass of chilled apple juice to go with my third mug of Maxwell House, and sat down to a home-cooked “Barnyard Buster.”

Them’s good eats.

I hadn’t expected the Mountain air to be full of song at 11am today, but it was — Merlin recorded nine species in just a few minutes:

I’m tellin’ you, this place is so alive that it positively vibrates. It never fails to amaze me.

Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
