Marking time

Today is Day 400 of 15 Days to Flatten the Curve. Deb and I are well.

Read the first sentence of today’s post again — we’re now four hundred days into this theater, this nonsense, this institutional transformation of The Land of Liberty into a place not recognizable as America.

If you’re inclined to accuse me of making the “pandemic” political, stand down.

It’s not politics. It’s principle.

Those of us who stand on Liberty and cherish our inalienable rights will continue to live like the born-free Americans we are. The rest of you — Democrats and other progressives, the nannies and Karens among us — can go to hell.

Deb and I have reached the “loose ends” phase of our preparations. What’s left to do is by no means trivial, but most of it is simple, even menial. But because each completed task brings us closer to the moment we begin our journey.

Fill Ernie’s fresh-water tank. Sweep the coach’s roof and slide toppers of debris accumulated over the last few weeks. Do a final round of laundry. Pay the monthly bills.

We’re expecting rain to begin around noon tomorrow, so we’ll bring the slides in before then.

There are warm personal moments, too. We made time this morning to have breakfast and conversation with friends. This evening a former colleague visited us here at Second Chance Ranch. Smiles, well-wishes, good times.

Soon we’ll be on our way. The next few days will be an exercise in restraint. I’m pretty sure we’re up to the challenge.

Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
