It was the 11th of March when Deb and I spilled the beans about our plans to abandon Ohio and build a home in The Ozarks. Many of you suspected as much long before that. Over on Facebook we’d been maintaining a page devoted to our travels and, once travel stopped being our focus, it occurred to us that it didn’t make much sense anymore.
Yesterday we retired that page, essentially freezing it as it is. The images and accounts will remain as a sort of time capsule, allowing friends to scroll back through and re-live our journey (as we often do ourselves). We also launched a new page to chronicle a very different adventure.

If you view our regular sharing as narcissistic, I can forgive that. It’s certainly not our intent. Because of the path we’ve walked to get to this point, we approach our life with humility and gratitude. What’s more, as others have inspired us, so we also hope to inspire. And we can’t inspire if we don’t tell our story.
We know that still annoys some folks. We don’t really care.
It’s not unusual for Deb and me to lose track of what day it is — that’s just the nature of our life these days. We do know that this is Saturday, however, and beginning early this morning a steady, soaking rain fell outside Ernie’s windows.
The forecast calls for the wet stuff to continue off-and-on through midday tomorrow, making the weekend pretty much a washout. No one is complaining, though — we need rain badly, and what we’re getting is just what the doctor ordered.
We relaxed our rainy Saturday away at the campground. Later we went out for groceries and fast food.
Our girl Scout, by the way, though hobbled by her injury, continues to be happy — hell, she might be happier than I’ve ever seen her. She gets around just fine. I carry her up and down Ernie’s steep entry steps, but other than that she does whatever she wants to do.
Watching her adapt and persevere, it occurs to me that we have a lot to learn from dogs.
