I may as well reveal the end at the beginning — we don’t yet have a parking pad for the fifth-wheel. Our contractor ran into a snag on his previous job (the marking of a water line was off by 31 feet, and he hit it with his excavator), so he won’t be on The Mountain ’til tomorrow morning.

Deb and I had a great day anyway. The weather was perfect, though hot and humid. We were alone on the homesite for a long time, maybe longer than any day before this, which brought peace and prompted dreaming.
Ticks fell from the trees like rain.
We left for a while to hit Miller Hardware for bird feeders and rakes, and then Dollar General for cold drinks. Our Dollar General haul also included a couple of cheap kiddie pools — Smudge and Deb’s cousin’s dogs had themselves a ball.

We did get two loads of gravel. The three piles, totaling nearly 40 tons, will disappear tomorrow.

We’ll be back up there in the morning.
Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
