Flyin’ high again

I wrapped yesterday’s post earlier than usual, well before Deb got Home from work. I didn’t know we’d be treating ourselves to a beer and a meal at Crooked Creek Pub. Nor did I suspect we’d stop along the county road on our way back to photograph a picturesque sky over the pastures.

Today was another perfect spring day, cool and clear. No wind. After running into town to pick up mail and provisions, I took advantage of the calm conditions to get our drone in the air for the first time in over a year, its maiden flight over The Mountain.

For the record, I totally suck at piloting the craft. Deb tells me it’s like playing video games, being a joystick thing and all, but I never play video games because I loathe video games. But over the course of an hour or so, I managed to capture some acceptable video over and around the homestead.

Yeah, I need a lot more seat time before I feel good about what I get with the drone.

Because I was taking video, I couldn’t snap still images — the onboard camera doesn’t do multitasking. I did, however, grab a handful of frames from the three videos I shot.

Taken together, those images are a perspective on our Home we’ve never had. We know the lay of the land, sure, and we’ve seen lots of aerial views of the territory, but now we’ve seen what we’ve made of it.

Color us pleased — dare I say, proud.

We ended our relaxing, perfect Saturday at our sunset perch.

Take care of yourselves, Patriots. Stay calm. Stay sharp. Stay free.
